To activate the firmware update function press the DataPod's [S] button whist plugging it to the computer. The letters USB will appear in the middle of the DataPod screen when the firmware update function is running.

Please note that the DataPod may offer alternative USB functionality as part of its main software which is executed when the [S] button is not pressed. For example, with the apropriate  software installed it could be made to work as an RC simulator interface. Though the DataPod will appear in your computer's Device Manager you will not be able to update its firmware in this mode.
